We had an impromptu gathering of neighbors and although there wasn’t much time to prepare, that did not stop me from making sure there were delicious (and well displayed) hors d’ouevres.  And since it was the first backyard get together of the season, it was the perfect time to break out the Beerbarrow.

Margarita glasses are great for shrimp cocktail, add crushed ice and a small bowl of sauce in the middle.

And don’t be afraid to use the “good china” for casual parties. Your guests will appreciate you pulled out all the stops to entertain them and you’ll enjoy actually using your favorite pieces rather than looking at them on the shelf!
