Think outside the sink.

When I spotted an antique Singer sewing machine base at Restoration Resources  I thought this would be a perfect sink base for our half bath. I bought it right away without really knowing if I could find a basin to fit, but was determined to do so.

After some research (and seeing the perplexed look on the plumber’s face after explaining my plan), I found the perfect sink from Ikea and the well spout-like faucet at Home Depot. We really wanted the pedal on the base to pump the water, but we spared the plumber that task.

The Door Switch

We wanted to replace our front door and use it for our half bath, but the big clear glass window was not ideal  for bathroom privacy (or the main entrance to our home for that matter) so we said adios to the lovely paper curtain and applied a frosted film to the glass.

We saved money by reusing the door for the bath and by buying the “new” front door at Restoration Resources.

$5.00 DIY Towel Bar

You can have a lot of fun in plumbing section of Home Depot. I bought a steel gas pipe, a couple of elbows, and a floor flange and put them together to create a hand towel bar for the bathroom. You can pick from a variety of sizes and lengths to make your own custom bar. Just make sure to spray paint it with Rust-Oleum paint to avoid it from rusting in a high moisture area.
